Hidden Animal

Hidden Animal Drawing

Description:

I class today we first created these super cool glasses with a red film as the lenses. Then we picked an animal to draw on a white piece of paper. I had to draw the animal upside-down. It was pretty challenging but I am happy with how mine turned out. I drew a monkey in a tree first with a blue colored pencil. Then I had to draw random things with red, yellow and orange (the warm colors). I drew enough items so you couldn't see the monkey at all. Then when you put on the glasses you can see the monkey in the background. Kids would be super impressed by this because it seems kind of like magic!

Extension Activity

For an extension activity for this project I would have the students write stories based on their pictures. Following the same idea we did with the three hints. I would have them write the story as if they were the animal in the picture, with out revealing what the animal is. For example, "I like to climb trees all day with my long arms." After reading the story the reader should be able to figure out what animal is hidden in the picture. Then let the reader put on the glasses to see if they were right!
