Crayon and Oil Pastel

Image
Description - We did a scratch art project with a snowy theme. First we drew our project onto a piece of paper. I drew a snowman and some kids sledding in the back to show depth. Then, we traced our drawing onto the scratch art sheet. After that I took the paper off and drew directly onto the scratch art. Extension activity-  An extension activity for this project could be using these sheets to have the students do math problems. It would be a fun and engaging way for them to work on their math skills. It is different so the students would automatically be excited to use it.

3D Design

Image
Description - The assignment for this project was to create a 3-D design using different paper rolls. The design had to have a theme so mine is a farm. To start I would cut out all the papers I used. I rolled most of them to the desired look. I cut the clouds and sun differently so they would stand out more. I created my design so that when the paper is held upright it looks like the animals are standing. Extension Activity-  An extension activity could be having the students pair share about their projects. Students love to talk and it is a good way to work on their peer interaction in an educational way. They can describe their projects to others. They might also teach the other students how to do some of the different folds they included on their project.

Clay

Image
Description-  The topic of this assignment was to create an ornament out of clay. We first drew out design on a small sheet of paper. Then we rolled and kneaded our clay. Next, I cut my clay into the right size of circle based off of the teachers template. I used a small tool to create my design with the lines. I created the "K" by rolling the clay then slipping and scoring the back to apply it to my project. Finally, I painted my project. Extension Activity-  An extension activity could be having the student write a letter to bring home with the project. I am giving mine to my brother and with it I would have to write him a note. It would be a sentimental way to give the project to him. At the same time then the students are working on their writing.

Craft

Image
Description-  The topic of this lesson was craft. To begin the craft I traced the feathers on a white sheet of paper. Next, I wrote things that I am thankful for on each feather. Then I put shaving creme on a pan and put paint on top. Then I put the paper on top of the shaving cream. I pressed lightly on the back of the paper to transfer the paint. I took the paper off and scraped the extra shaving creme off. I set it to the side to let it dry. Next, I drew the face onto my toilet paper roll. When the paper dried I cut out the leaves and stapled them onto the back of the roll. Extension Activity-  An extension activity for this project could be having my students write about what they are thankful for and explain why. That way the students can work on their writing skills to go with the Thanksgiving holiday. ...

Printmaking

Image
Description - The topic of this project was printmaking and this was the lesson I taught. To begin this project the student colored in a circle from the inside out to create the background. Next they drew a design on a small piece of paper. Next they taped their paper to a small Styrofoam piece of paper and began to trace over it. Then they took off the paper and traced over their lines on the Styrofoam again. The students rolled paint over their Styrofoam and placed it on their paper. They rolled the back of the Styrofoam to transfer the paint. When they peeled back the Styrofoam the design was on their paper. They repeated the printing process three more times. Extension Activity-  An extension activity could be having the students share with a partner why they chose the design they did. Then explain to their partner how it shows rad...

Paper

Image
Description-  The topic of this project was paper. To begin you had to lay a tack paper down on your construction paper. Then I began sticking pieces of tissue paper down on the paper to create an underwater scene. I have to cover the entire piece of tack paper with the tissue paper to receive full points. Then I traced and cut out underwater creatures. It was required to have four small animals and one large animal evenly spaced out. Then when I was done I placed another sheet of tack paper on the top. I am happy with how my project turned out because I think it is very neatly put together. Extension Activity-  An extension activity could have the student do research on one of the animals they chose. While they collect research they could write a short write up about the animal. They could display their project with the paper and parents could know what the...

Painting

Image
Description - The topic for this project was painting. To begin I had to draw two parallel lines, a curve line, for shapes and another line going the opposite direction. Then I had to choose a color to create shades and tints from. I chose the color blue and added black and white to make the different colors. Next, I painted every area different shades. I was required to create four different shades of blue. I also decided to use white in my painting as well. When the paint was dry I went back over my lines with a sharpie. My project didn't turn out as well as I hoped it would. When I had to trace the lines I noticed I didn't do a very good job of painting in the lines. I definitely need more practice painting. Extension Activity-  An extension activity for this project could be to have the students research a famous painter. There are a lot of painters that have very i...
